FEBRUARY IS - I Love To Read Month
During the month of February we have several activities going on in our school that are designed to encourage students to read throughout the month.  We are also teaming up with the Great River Regional Library for an extra incentive this month.  Whenever a student goes to the Foley Public Library during the month of February, the staff at the library will record which class the student is in at our school on a chart.  At the end of the month, classes with the highest participation will earn a class reward.  So, be sure to take the time to visit the library this month as often as you can.  If your child doesn't have a library card yet, it is the perfect time to sign up. The Great River Regional Library is a great community resource!
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conference Reminders will be sent out on Friday, February 19th. Please watch for the reminder in your Friday folders or in an email from your child’s teacher. • Arrival time is no earlier than 7:50 am as there is no supervision prior to that.  Students should be dropped off and enter through the main front door only (Door E1).
    • Please return all paperwork from Open House
    • Turn in Preschool tuition that was due September 1st.   Please note deposits should be deducted from September payments.
    • Remember to check the website at www.foley.k12.mn.us for all the latest news.
    ******************************************************************************************

Picture retakes will be done the morning of October 3rd.  If your child’s picture was not taken at Open House, it will be taken on retake day.  You do not have to order a package, but envelopes are available in the office.  Student pictures are used for the Memory Book and class composite pictures.
    ******************************************************************************

When sending notes with your students, please make sure to include first and last name, teacher name and the dates to which you are referring to. We have many students with the same first names, parents with different last names and sometimes notes are lost in the hallways or old notes are taken out of backpacks and given to us. This ensures that we are receiving accurate information regarding any after school changes.
When driving in our parking lot, please be mindful that we have many small children that can be moving through the lot throughout the day.  To ensure the safety of all:
    • Please remember to drive at a slow speed in our parking lot
    • For the safety of all students, the north parking lot is for BUS TRAFFIC ONLY!
    • Traffic from the Elementary School entrance to the High School should be one way only (west bound in the north lane by the school and east bound on the south lane on the other side of parked vehicles)
    • Whenever possible, parents should walk with their students into the building.  Tardy students and students returning from appointments must be accompanied by a parent.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reminder: There will be no bus changes allowed for students without a Transportation Request/Change Form on file with the office and the Transportation department.  Please allow 3 days for the change to take place as stated on the transportation form you filled out at Open House. Remember – to ensure the safety of all of our students it is important to have a consistent after school plan.
    **********************************************************************
Please be sure to send a note to the office if your child has any after school changes (this includes Community Ed programs).

    Important Reminders:
It is important to have a consistent plan for students at Pick Up time each day.  In the event a change is necessary, the office MUST be notified prior to 2:00 so we can get information to the student and their teacher. Safety is always a concern at Foley Elementary. When dropping your children off in the morning, we ask that the students gather up their books, backpacks, jackets, etc. as quickly as possible before getting to the drop zone at Door E1 and students should move to the sidewalk area as quickly as possible. When your children are safely on the sidewalk we ask that you proceed out of the parking lot to the west. Traffic should remain single-file. Please do not pull around another vehicle in the drop-off lane.We hope that these guidelines will help traffic move quickly through the parking lot as well as keeping our students safe.

    Fundraising Update:
Thanks to everyone for saving the Box Tops for Education and Food Club Points from Coborn's.  We are excited to announce another great opportunity to raise money for FES.  Cartridge World is asking parents and families to bring in their empty printer cartridges for the Recycling Rewards program.  In exchange for the empty cartridges, Cartridge World will pay the school based on the quantity collected.  These can be dropped off at the FES Office.  With those donations we are able to provide guided reading books, playground equipment, and purchase new technology for student use. Thanks again for your continued efforts in collecting for our schools. Your hard work makes a difference!!!

The Labels for Education® program is winding down.
As of August 1, 2016, only UPCs with the Labels for Education logo will be accepted and redeemed for points into registered schools’ bank account. We have begun the process of removing the logo and expect there will be a limited number of products that contain these labels in stores through August 1, 2017. Once all Labels for Education logos have been removed from the products, UPCs will no longer be accepted. The banked points schools have accumulated will not be affected.
